The name and its older variants <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caldis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> o <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caldesio<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> seem to indicate that in the past there was a hot water spring. Given its cultural significance, Caldes is now one of the <\/span><b>Borghi pi\u00f9 Belli d&#8217;Italia<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and is also known as the \u201capple village\u201d because it is rich in apple orchards.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most important monument is <\/span><b>Castel Caldes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the manor built around 1235 that gave life to the town and that can still be visited today. The typical cheese is <\/span><b>Casol\u00e9t <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from Val di Sole, a soft, raw paste mountain cheese with a sweet, delicate flavour. In contemporary times, Caldes has seen the birth and growth of some talented modern artists, including the sculptors <\/span><b>Luciano <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">end<\/span><b> Ivan Zanoni <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">together with the painter <\/span><b>Paolo Vallorz<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
