Skiing holidays in Val di Sole

Skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and more

In winter, the Val di Sole is pure magic with its snowy, white and silent landscapes. If you like skiing or snowboarding, you are in the right place: there are 3 ski areas for a total of 270 km of slopes, which you can access with the Skirama Dolomiti Adamello Brenta ski pass. And if you want to learn to ski or snowboard, you can do so with the instructors of the local ski schools, booking private or group lessons.

The nearest slopes to the Hotel Lastè are those of the Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta Skiarea, which connects Folgarida Marilleva, Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo. You can choose from four gondola lifts to ascend: one in Daolasa (10 km from the hotel), two directly from Folgarida (15 km from the hotel) and one from Marilleva.

Winter holidays in Val di Sole also offer great possibilities for cross-country skiers, with two cross-country skiing centres (in Vermiglio and in Val di Rabbi), three slopes in Cogolo di Peio, Ossana and Commezzadura, and three schools (Tre Laghetti Italian Cross Country Skiing School, Vermiglio Cross Country Skiing Center, Rabbi Cross Country Skiing Center).

If you want a more intense, exciting and adrenalin-pumping experience, Val di Sole also offers ice climbing with an alpine guide. There are three main waterfalls: the imposing Cascata Grande and Salto Alto, the 8 waterfalls that make up the Cascata Salto dei Cembri, and the 10 waterfalls of the Cascata di Valorz in Val di Rabbi. Alternatively, try snowkiting, a discipline that uses the energy of the wind through traction kites to be towed on skis over snow-covered surfaces.

The Chalet Spolverino

Restaurant, bar and pizzeria at high altitude

Holidays in Val di Sole cannot miss a lunch or an aperitif at the Chalet Spolverino at 2092 metres on Mount Spolverino, with a panoramic view of the Brenta Dolomites. Run with such passion for the mountains by Nadia, Fabio, Arianna and Patrick, who are also the owners of the Hotel Lastè, the chalet is conveniently situated at the arrival point of the Daolasa ski lift, making it the ideal place for a warm, tasty, steaming break during your days of skiing or snowshoeing.

In addition to a selection of typical recipes from Trentino such as the famous canederli (bread dumplings) and knuckle of pork, you can choose from a varied menu with sandwiches, cold cuts and cheese tastings, pizzas and international dishes, all prepared with local ingredients. There is nothing more satisfying than savouring good food while enjoying the snowy panorama that can only be admired from here.

What to do in Val di Sole besides skiing

Snowshoeing and family park

Snowshoeing on the soft snow is a unique sensation to be experienced at least once in a lifetime to get to know the beauty of the mountains in winter amidst the silence of the woods and the snowy landscape. In Val di Sole there are many marked snowshoe routes to be done on your own or with organised groups. Some easy and suggestive itineraries are the suspension bridge over the Ragaiolo Waterfalls in the Stelvio National Park, the Gnome Trail towards the Caprioli Lake, and Valorz and its Masi (traditional farmhouses, built entirely out of wood and stones) with installations by the artist Maurizio Misseroni.

For children’s fun, there are the family parks of the Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta, Pontedilegno – Tonale and Pejo3000 Skiareas. Here, the little kids can play safely in the snow together with instructors on bobsleighs and toboggans, snow tubes, treadmills and tubing tracks.

Thermal baths and other exciting experiences in the Dolomites

In Val di Sole you can relax at the Pejo and Rabbi thermal baths, in the setting of the magnificent Stelvio National Park. Let go of tensions in the pools with thermal water, a real cure-all for skin, respiratory tract and cardiovascular problems. Regenerate body and mind with massages and treatments in the wellness area, such as the biosauna, steam bath, emotional showers and much more.

Another fabulous experience that Val di Sole offers is a ride through the woods on a sleigh pulled by Jenny and Gelo, two Haflinger horses, with a tasting of typical local products. Alternatively, try dog sledding, driving your sled and husky dog team through the snow to rediscover the bond between man, dog and nature.
